So what did I choose to do? Discovered inspiration of course! I know for my story I want it to be a kind of urban romance drama about 2 uniquely opposite characters.
When I say opposite though I don't want their differences to only be physical. I wanna make it so that they have similar values but have grown up to have different personalities. In case you couldn't tell, I am a huge Disney and Pixar fan, so a lot of my inspiration can be credited to John Lasseter and Walt Disney (not forgetting Robert Disney, one of the best big brothers of all history).
Thinking about the characters I wanted them to have basic similarities (in the sense of morals) but their own takes on whats important in life with the ultimate goal of being happy. Thinking of my male character, I wanted him to be artistic. He is a young artist (I would like him to be in his late teen years) who is relaxed and a little socially awkward but also childish. In a way I relate this character back to Linguini (one of the main male characters of Pixar's Ratatouille) who is a lovable goof.
Contemplating my female character, I wanted her to be more STEM based, probably aspiring to be a engineer or something of that sort. She is set in her ways, always relaying on her own wits to succeed as well as staying to a strict set of rules she developed for herself to reach her life goal. Her strong personality is based off of the character Tiana (the main female character from Disney's The Princess and The Frog) who is a hard working and strong minded. Its helpful
to have a model on physical attributes that match the personality of the characters, so I
can now have an example of what I can look for in actors traits when casting.
I still would like to research inspiration to create the actual layout of the film opening as well as mise-en-scène, because I want the urban location to impact how the character act and impact what happens to them in the plot overall.
That's a Rapp on this post, till next time!
