Character creation in action

The search for new knowledge continues! I have spent time trying to figure out what I want to do in terms of character development to further develop the films plot.
So what did I choose to do? Discovered inspiration of course! I know for my story I want it to be a kind of urban romance drama about 2 uniquely opposite characters.
When I say opposite though I don't want their differences to only be physical. I wanna make it so that they have similar values but have grown up to have different personalities. In case you couldn't tell, I am a huge Disney and Pixar fan, so a lot of my inspiration can be credited to John Lasseter and Walt Disney (not forgetting Robert Disney, one of the best big brothers of all history).
Thinking about the characters I wanted them to have basic similarities (in the sense of morals) but their own takes on whats important in life with the ultimate goal of being happy. Thinking of my male character, I wanted him to be artistic. He is a young artist (I would like him to be in his late teen years) who is relaxed and a little socially awkward but also childish. In a way I relate this character back to Linguini (one of the main male characters of Pixar's Ratatouille) who is a lovable goof.
Contemplating my female character, I wanted her to be more STEM based, probably aspiring to be a engineer or something of that sort. She is set in her ways, always relaying on her own wits to succeed as well as staying to a strict set of rules she developed for herself to reach her life goal. Her strong personality is based off of the character Tiana (the main female character from Disney's The Princess and The Frog) who is a hard working and strong minded. Its helpful to have a model on physical attributes that match the personality of the characters, so I can now have an example of what I can look for in actors traits when casting.
I still would like to research inspiration to create the actual layout of the film opening as well as mise-en-scène, because I want the urban location to impact how the character act and impact what happens to them in the plot overall.
That's a Rapp on this post, till next time!

Nice to meet you

Well hello there stranger! I am Carolina Rapp, a 17 year old videographer.
I love the technical side to television production, as I have been working hard to better my techniques since middle school! I am currently in my schools television production program, CBTV, so I have created an array of videos before (some can be seen on my website) but this is my first time creating a film opening!
Its a little nerve wrecking but since this is my first I wanna go big! The first thing that came to my mind was to research a genre that was popular yet gave me freedom in what content I can create not in response creating an expensive budget. Through research of generic genre information, I found out that the most popular movie theater age group in 2016 based off of Theatrical Marketing Statistics was 18 - 24 years old. Along with that, in 2016 females were the majority in box office sales based off of the largest gross films of that year. I also learned that the most popular genre according to Statistics Portal is Drama movies.
With the larger portion of audiences at box offices are young adults and females, I chose to do a drama romance film with the main characters as teenagers/young adults. The plot of the film will be about a main couple and their lives. One character will be a white male junior in high school (maybe older?), the other character will be a black women sophomore in high school (also may make her 18 to be more relatable to target audience?) . So far my basic idea would be for the movie to go more in depth on their lives and contradicting personalities, also dealing with underlining struggles of an inter racial relationship. Still working on details so nothing is fully set. I am thrilled to do more research and get back to you guys on what I discover!
That's a Rapp on this post, till next time!
